OKC Plumbers · Free checklist · No login

The 10-minute self-audit every OKC plumbing website should pass.

When a frozen pipe bursts at 11pm, your website has about 8 seconds to convert panic into a phone call. Run these 8 checks on your own site in the next 10 minutes. No tools to install. Open it on your phone and follow along.

Why this matters

Somebody with water on the floor is searching on a phone, and they are not patient. A page-builder site carrying a stack of plugins can take several seconds to paint. If your number is not on screen fast, the call goes to whoever loads first.

Most of what's costing you calls is fixable in a single weekend. The 8 checks below find every common plumber-website problem in order of "biggest impact first."

The 8 checks

1

The emergency-call test

Open your website on your phone from a cold cache (e.g., from a Google search result). Without scrolling, can you see your phone number in 3 seconds or less?

PASS: Phone number visible above the fold within 3 seconds. FAIL: Have to scroll or wait more than 3 seconds.
2

The tap-to-call test

Tap your phone number where it appears on the page. Does the dialer open?

PASS: Dialer opens on every page. FAIL: Number doesn't dial.

Quick fix: Phone numbers need to be wrapped in <a href="tel:+14055551234">. Wix templates almost never do this by default.

3

The "24/7" honesty test

Does your site say you're "24/7 emergency service"? Are you actually answering calls at 2am?

PASS: Either you really are 24/7, or your site says "emergency calls 7am to 9pm, after-hours via voicemail callback." FAIL: Site claims 24/7 but most after-hours calls go to voicemail and don't get returned for hours.

Why it matters: A negative review saying "called at 11pm, no answer, site says 24/7" hurts you more than just being honest about your hours.

4

The schema test

Go to search.google.com/test/rich-results and paste your homepage URL.

PASS: "Plumber" or "LocalBusiness" schema detected. FAIL: No items detected.

Why it matters: Google can't show your ratings, hours, or map pin without this. It's the single biggest local-SEO win that costs nothing on a hand-coded site.

5

The PageSpeed mobile score

Go to pagespeed.web.dev, paste your homepage URL, click Analyze.

PASS: Mobile Performance score 70+. FAIL: Mobile Performance score under 50.
6

The service-area test

From your phone, search Google for plumber near me while standing in Edmond, Moore, Norman, Yukon, and Mustang. Are you in the top 3 in each city?

PASS: Top 3 in at least 3 service-area cities. FAIL: Only visible in one core area.

Why it matters: You need a real page per major service-area city, with unique content (not "we also serve Edmond" tacked onto your homepage).

7

The drain-photo test

Look at the photos on your site. Are they real photos of YOUR work (clogged drains, repaired pipes, your truck on a job)? Or stock photos of perfect plumbing setups?

PASS: Most photos are real, from real jobs. FAIL: Stock photos throughout.

Why it matters: A blurry phone photo of an actual job beats a stock photo every time. Customers want to see what you actually do, not what a stock photographer thinks plumbing looks like.

8

The recent-review test

Does your homepage show a recent (last 6 months) customer review with their name and what they had done?

PASS: Real review, real name, recent date, specific job mentioned. FAIL: No reviews on homepage, or all from 2+ years ago, or anonymous ("J.S. from OKC").
