Terms of service.
These are the terms for using stroderwebservices.com and the services we provide. They're written in plain English. Read them once, ask if anything's unclear. By visiting our site, paying for a build, or signing the Service Agreement, you agree to these.
What we do
Stroder Web Services ("SWS", "we", "us") designs, builds, and hosts custom websites for small businesses. Our packages are listed at stroderwebservices.com/services. We are a family-run business operated by Dominic and Katie Stroder.
Pricing & payment
- Build cost: Per-tier as listed on our pricing page. 50% deposit is due before work begins. The remaining 50% is due before launch (when the site goes live on your domain).
- Hosting & ongoing services: Billed monthly via Stripe recurring subscription, starting the month your site goes live.
- Add-ons: Listed on the pricing page. Billed at the time of request and added to either the build invoice or your monthly invoice.
- Late payments: Monthly hosting payments more than 14 days late may result in your site being temporarily taken offline. We will email you before that happens.
All prices are in USD. We do not currently charge sales tax (Oklahoma does not tax web design services).
Project scope & revisions
The Service Agreement you sign before work begins lists exactly what's included in your build. Pages, features, and the timeline. Revisions within scope are included. Significant scope changes (additional pages, e-commerce features, etc.) are quoted as add-ons and added to your invoice.
We respond to ongoing support requests within 1–2 business days under monthly hosting plans. Hosting includes routine maintenance and security updates; it does not include unlimited content changes (those are billed as add-ons or covered under a separate retainer).
Cancellations & refunds
Refund terms are detailed in our Refund Policy. Short version: deposits are non-refundable once work has started. Monthly hosting can be cancelled anytime. Your service runs through the end of the paid month and is not pro-rated.
If you cancel ongoing hosting, we will export your site files and provide them to you at no charge so you can host elsewhere. We will keep your domain registration active in your name regardless of hosting status (you own the domain).
Intellectual property
- Your content: You own all the content (text, photos, logos, videos) you provide to us. We use it only to build your site.
- Your finished site: Once paid in full, you own the design and code of your finished site. We will provide the source files on request.
- Our portfolio rights: We retain the right to feature your site. Including screenshots, your business name, and a link. In our portfolio, case studies, and marketing materials. If you'd prefer we not, tell us and we'll honor that.
- Third-party assets: Stock photos, fonts, plugins, and other third-party assets remain the property of their original owners and are used under their respective licenses.
Hosting service level
We host on private infrastructure with nightly backups. We aim for 99.9%+ uptime (verified by UptimeRobot on a 30-day rolling window). We are a family-run business operated by Dominic and Katie Stroder. If your site goes down, we typically have it back up within a few hours.
For mission-critical sites where uptime guarantees matter, you should host with an enterprise provider (we can recommend one and migrate your site at cost).
Acceptable use
You agree not to use SWS hosting or services to:
- Distribute illegal content, malware, or spam.
- Host adult content, gambling content, or content that violates local law.
- Conduct phishing, fraud, or other deceptive activities.
- Resell our hosting to third parties without written agreement.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate service for violations, typically with at least one warning when feasible.
Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (lost profits, data loss, etc.).
We do our best to keep your site secure and your data safe, but we cannot guarantee perfect security. You should keep your own backup of any irreplaceable content you supply to us.
Termination
Either of us can end the relationship at any time. If you cancel, see the Refund Policy. If we cancel (rare. Would only be for acceptable use violations or non-payment), we'll give reasonable notice and provide your files for export.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected by a new "Last updated" date at the top, and we will notify active clients by email. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oklahoma, USA. Any disputes will be resolved in courts located in Oklahoma County, OK.
