Why custom-coded, when Wix costs less?
Page builders look easy until you check your Google rankings, your monthly bill, or what happens when you try to leave. A custom-coded site costs more than a Wix plan, even over five years. Here is the math, what the extra money buys, and where a page builder is the fair choice.

Yes, the SWS total is higher in raw dollars, and Wix costs less. If all you need is a cheap page and you're happy to rent it, Wix is a fair choice. What the extra money buys with me is a site written for your business that becomes yours once the build is paid, monitoring and backups, and a person who answers when you text. A template subscription also leaves you at the mercy of the platform when it changes its pricing or its rules. Two plumbers in Norman? Both can win.
Some agencies that "specialize" in trades either won't take a second client in your vertical (and tell you their slots are full), or they take both of you and ship near-identical templates with different logos.
I do it differently. If I work with two plumbers in Norman, your sites won't compete with each other. Each one targets different keywords, different angles, different voice. One might own "drain cleaning Norman." The other owns "water heater Norman." Different setup for Google, different copy, different SEO targeting from the first line of code.
Custom doesn't mean the logo is different. It means the entire site is yours alone. That's the difference between a template with your name on it and a site that's actually built for your business.

Run a Lighthouse audit
Chrome dev tools → Lighthouse → run mobile audit. Run it on your own site, then on mine. As of 2026-08-27 this site scores 100 on SEO, accessibility and best practices, and 92 on mobile performance.
Inspect the network
Dev tools → Network tab → refresh. A page-builder site pulls far more requests and far more megabytes than a custom-coded one. Run it on your own site and see the number for yourself. That's a big part of why custom-coded sites do well on mobile.

When is Wix the better choice?
When the lowest monthly cost matters most and a template look is fine. Wix and Squarespace cost less per month than my hosting alone. A custom-coded site makes sense when you want a site written for your business, with an owner you can text, that you can take with you if you leave.
Isn't custom coding slower to build?
Once your deposit and intake form are in, your first preview usually comes within a few days. The finished site takes 5-7 business days for Starter, 10-14 for Standard and 14-21 for Premium. The clock pauses while anything waits on you or on outside services I don't control, like your domain. The full timeline, with the Rush option, is on the websites page.
Can I edit the site myself?
Not in an editor, no. You send me the change by portal, text or email, I make it, and you approve it before it goes live. Every plan includes 30 minutes of edits a month, and edits past that are $50 an hour. New pages and layout reworks are add-ons. No CMS for you to manage, no broken-plugin emergencies at 11 pm.
What if I want to leave?
Your domain is registered in your name from day one, and you can transfer it away any time at no charge. Once the build is paid in full, the site files are yours: up front, at the 12th payment if you spread it out, or sooner if you pay it off early. You can host them anywhere a static site runs (Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, your own VPS). Hosting can be cancelled any month. No data hostage. No ransom hosting bill.
Why is the 5-year cost higher than Wix?
Because custom code, monitoring, security, backups, and a person on the other end of a text message cost more to provide than a templated subscription with a help-desk queue. The trade-off: you get a site written for your business that becomes yours, and if it goes down I get the alert. Uptime checks run every 5 minutes.
