Windows 10 help for small businesses ยท Del City, Midwest City, east OKC & Moore

Still on Windows 10 at your shop? Here is what it costs now.

Windows 10 stopped getting free security updates on October 14, 2025, and year one of Microsoft's paid extension ended October 13, 2026. Staying covered now means year two, which runs to October 12, 2027. I check every machine and tell you, in plain numbers, which ones upgrade free, which ones to replace, and what staying put costs.

The short version

What changed, in three lines.

Oct 14, 2025

Free security updates ended

Windows 10 PCs keep working. They just stopped getting security fixes and support from Microsoft.

Oct 12, 2027

Year two of the paid extension ends

Year one ended October 13, 2026. A business that buys year two of Microsoft's Extended Security Updates is covered until this date.

$122 per PC

The price of year two

It doubles every year, and the years are bought in order. Skip year one and you still pay for it to get year two.

What staying costs

Microsoft's prices, per computer.

These are Microsoft's prices for businesses, sold through Microsoft's Volume Licensing Program. I do not sell the extension and I do not mark it up. They are here so you can see the math.

Year one (ran to Oct 13, 2026; late joiners still pay it)$61
Year two (covers to Oct 12, 2027)$122
Year three (covers to Oct 10, 2028, the last one)$244
Starting from zero now (year one plus year two)$183

For a five-computer office, year two alone is $610. Starting from zero, it is $915, and it goes up again next October. Every PC that moves to Windows 11 is one you stop paying the extension for.

Sources, Microsoft's own pages, checked October 21, 2026: the ESU program for Windows 10 and the ESU dates. Microsoft states $61 for year one and says the price doubles every consecutive year, so $122 and $244 follow from that.

Your options

Three ways out, machine by machine.

One office can need all three. The point is knowing which machine gets which before you pay for another year, not after.

Upgrade to Windows 11, free if the PC qualifies

Microsoft makes the upgrade from Windows 10 Home or Pro to the same edition of Windows 11 free. The catch is the hardware: the PC needs TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and a processor Microsoft supports. I check each one, make sure your files are backed up, and do the upgrade. You pay for my time, not for Windows.

Replace the ones that cannot make the jump

A PC that fails the check will not get Windows 11. I find a refurbished business PC that fits your budget, then set it up and move your files over for $99. The machine is at my cost plus 20 percent, and I show you the receipt.

Pay for the extension, on purpose

Sometimes that is the right call: a machine that runs one program that will not work on Windows 11, or a PC you are replacing next spring anyway. I will tell you when the extension is the cheaper path.

Where to start

One visit, every machine checked.

I walk your office with a one-page sheet. For every computer: which Windows it runs, whether it can take Windows 11, how the drive is holding up, and how old it is. You get a keep, upgrade, or replace call on each one, with a price, before any work starts.

The assessment is $85, credited toward whatever work it finds. You keep the sheet either way. After that, work on site is $85 an hour with a one-hour minimum, then half-hour steps. If a machine needs hours of work, like a rebuild or a fresh install, it comes to my bench at the lower $75 an hour bench rate.

I come to shops in Del City, Midwest City, east Oklahoma City and Moore, and out to Choctaw, Edmond and Norman with a two-hour minimum because of the drive. Everything else I do for small businesses →

Straight answers

Questions worth asking.

Will my Windows 10 computers stop working?

No. Microsoft says Windows 10 PCs keep working. What ended on October 14, 2025 is security updates, fixes, and support. The risk is a machine that stopped getting security fixes, not a machine that quits.

Is the Windows 11 upgrade really free?

Yes, from Windows 10 Home or Pro to the same edition of Windows 11, on a PC that meets Microsoft's requirements: TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and a supported processor. Plenty of older office PCs do not meet them, and those are the ones to plan for.

What does the extension cost a small business?

Year two, which covers to October 12, 2027, is $122 per PC. The years are bought in order, so a business that never bought year one ($61) pays for both: $183 per PC to be covered now. Year three, the last, is $244 and runs to October 10, 2028.

Do you sell the extension?

No. Businesses buy it from Microsoft, through Microsoft's Volume Licensing Program. I will tell you straight whether it makes sense for a machine, and if it does not, what the cheaper path is.

What does the assessment cost?

$85, and it is credited toward whatever work it finds. You keep the one-page sheet either way.
