Honest local computer help. I tell you the real problem and the real price before I start.
Data recovery · Del City, Midwest City, Moore & Choctaw

Files gone? You pay only if I get them back.

From $99, and that is the whole rule: if I cannot recover your files, you do not pay for the attempt. This is the one job where the honest structure matters most, because a promise is worthless when your daughter's baby photos are on the drive.

Stop using that computer right now. Every minute it runs can overwrite the exact data I am trying to pull back. Unplug it and call me.

Does this sound familiar

Is this what yours is doing?

If one of these matches, you are in the right place. If none of them do, tell me anyway, because the list is not exhaustive.

Files or folders vanished

Deleted by accident, or gone after a crash or a bad update. Often still physically on the drive until something writes over them.

The drive is not recognized

Windows does not see it, or it asks to format it. Do not format it. That request does not mean the data is gone.

Corrupted or unreadable files

The file is there but will not open. Sometimes recoverable, sometimes not, and I will tell you which after I look.

A computer that will not boot

The machine is dead but the drive inside is often perfectly fine. Your files can usually come off it either way.

What I actually do

The work, step by step.

Not a black box. This is the actual order of operations on the bench.

1

Stop, and bring it in powered off

The single most useful thing you can do is quit using it. Continued use is the main reason recoverable files become unrecoverable.

2

I read the drive, I do not write to it

Recovery work happens against the drive as a source. Nothing gets written back onto it, because writing is what destroys what is left.

3

You see the file list before you pay

I tell you what I actually found and what condition it is in. You decide from a real list, not a promise.

4

Files come back on your media

Recovered data goes onto a drive or stick you keep. And then we talk about a backup so this is the last time.

Where the line is

When I will send you somewhere else.

There are two kinds of drive failure. Logical failure means the drive still spins and works but the files are unreachable, and that is the kind I handle. Physical failure means the drive is clicking, dead, or was dropped, and the heads or platters are damaged. That requires a clean room and specialist equipment, and no honest person does it on a home bench.

If yours is physical, I will tell you plainly and point you to a real lab rather than opening it and making it worse. Opening a failed drive outside a clean room can turn a recoverable job into a permanently dead one.

The price

Flat, and posted up front.

Logical data recovery from $99
If I recover nothing $0
Physical failure, clicking or dropped drives referred to a lab

Pay only if recovered is a real policy and not a marketing line. If I cannot get your files, you owe me nothing for trying. Pricing starts at $99 and depends on the size of the job, and you will know the number before I start.

Who you are handing it to

One person, start to finish.

Dominic Stroder, who does the computer repair at Stroder Web Services in Del City, Oklahoma

I am Dominic. The person who answers your text is the person who opens your machine and the person who hands it back. There is no counter, no ticket number, and nobody to get passed along to.

That is also why the prices are flat and posted. One person with a bench does not need to build an hourly meter into the quote to cover a storefront.

Where I work

Del City and the east metro.

The bench is in Del City. I answer texts 9am to 9pm any day, and evenings and weekends is best for the actual hand-off. The price is the same whichever town you are coming from.

The more you tell me, the better I can help. I usually respond within one business day. Prefer to just call or text? (405) 458-0864.

Laptops: the sticker on the bottom. Desktops: the side or back of the tower. It tells me exactly what parts your machine takes.

A photo of that sticker and one of the problem itself help a lot. Straight from your phone camera is fine.

Straight answers

Questions worth asking.

How much does data recovery cost?

It starts at $99 and depends on the job, and you will have the number before I begin. The important part is that if I do not recover your files, you do not pay for the attempt.

What should I do right now?

Stop using the computer and shut it down. Every minute it stays running can overwrite the data I am trying to recover. If Windows asks to format the drive, do not let it.

Can you recover from a drive that is clicking?

No, and neither can anyone else on a home bench. Clicking means physical damage to the heads or platters, and that needs a clean room. I will tell you that honestly and point you to a real lab instead of opening it and destroying what is left.

Can you get files off a computer that will not turn on?

Usually yes. A dead computer very often has a perfectly healthy drive inside it, and your files can come off it regardless of whether the machine itself is worth fixing.

Do you look at my files?

Only as far as confirming what recovered and whether it opens. I am not going through your personal documents, and the recovered data goes onto media you keep.
