Before you upgrade your internet plan, let me look. A faster plan does not fix a dead spot, and your provider will happily sell you one anyway.

Find out what you are actually getting
Real measured speed at the router and again at the places you use, because the number on your bill and the number in the back bedroom are different numbers.
Fix placement and channel
Where the router sits and which channel it uses often matter more than the equipment. This part regularly costs nothing and solves the whole complaint.
Set the router up properly
Out of factory defaults, on current firmware, with a real password and a sensible network name. A surprising number of routers have never been touched since install day.
Get everything back on and staying on
Printers, TVs, consoles, and phones reconnected and holding. Then I re-measure in the room that was dead.
When you actually do need to spend money.
Sometimes the honest answer is that your house is too big or too oddly shaped for one router, and no amount of tuning fixes it. In that case you need a mesh system or an access point, and I will tell you what to buy and roughly what it costs rather than selling you hardware at a markup.
Bigger jobs, business networks, or anything that needs real cabling run go hourly instead of the flat $89, and I will tell you that before starting rather than surprising you with it.

That is also why the prices are flat and posted. One person with a bench does not need to build an hourly meter into the quote to cover a storefront.

Do I need to buy a new router?
Often no. A lot of routers have never been moved or reconfigured since the day they were installed, and fixing placement and channel costs nothing. If your house genuinely needs a mesh system, I will tell you what to buy rather than selling it to you at a markup.
Do you come to the house?
For network work, yes, because the whole point is the actual layout of your house. Home setup is the flat $89, and larger or business jobs are $85 an hour on site.
