Honest local computer help. I tell you the real problem and the real price before I start.
New computer setup · Del City, Midwest City, Moore & Choctaw

New computer, nothing where you left it.

Flat $99, and it includes moving everything across from the old machine. Documents, photos, bookmarks, printers, and the programs you actually use, set up the way you expect them rather than the way the manufacturer shipped it.

You type your own passwords. Every time. I do not ask for them, I do not enter them, and I do not write them down.

Does this sound familiar

Is this what yours is doing?

If one of these matches, you are in the right place. If none of them do, tell me anyway, because the list is not exhaustive.

Half your life is on the old machine

Documents, photos, and browser bookmarks that never made the trip.

It came loaded with junk

Manufacturer trial software slowing down a computer you just bought. It comes off.

The printer will not connect

New machine, and now nothing on your network knows about it.

You are avoiding the whole thing

The new computer sitting in the box because setting it up is a whole day. That is the usual reason this job exists.

What I actually do

The work, step by step.

Not a black box. This is the actual order of operations on the bench.

1

Set the new machine up properly

Windows setup, all updates, and the manufacturer bloatware removed so you start clean instead of starting slow.

2

Move everything across

Documents, photos, browser favorites and saved passwords, and email. From the old drive directly if the old machine will not turn on.

3

Reinstall what you actually use

Not a list of everything that was ever installed. The programs you really open, set up and signed in, with you typing your own passwords.

4

Set it up the way you expect

Printer, Wi-Fi, and the desktop arranged the way you had it, then I walk you through it so you know where everything went.

Where the line is

How I handle your passwords.

You type them, every single time. When an account needs signing into during setup, I hand you the keyboard. I do not ask for your passwords, I do not want them written on the intake sheet, and I do not keep a copy of anything.

This is not a policy I advertise to sound careful. It is the actual working procedure, because the alternative means holding the keys to your bank and your email, and there is no version of this job that requires that.

The price

Flat, and posted up front.

New computer setup and file transfer $99
Pulling files from a dead machine included
Home Wi-Fi and printer setup $89 if it is a separate job
Old computer wipe before you sell or donate it just ask

Bring both machines if you have them. If the old one will not power on, bring it anyway, because the drive inside is usually fine and your files can come off it regardless.

Who you are handing it to

One person, start to finish.

Dominic Stroder, who does the computer repair at Stroder Web Services in Del City, Oklahoma

I am Dominic. The person who answers your text is the person who opens your machine and the person who hands it back. There is no counter, no ticket number, and nobody to get passed along to.

That is also why the prices are flat and posted. One person with a bench does not need to build an hourly meter into the quote to cover a storefront.

Where I work

Del City and the east metro.

The bench is in Del City. I answer texts 9am to 9pm any day, and evenings and weekends is best for the actual hand-off. The price is the same whichever town you are coming from.

Laptops: the sticker on the bottom. Desktops: the side or back of the tower. It tells me exactly what parts your machine takes.

A photo of that sticker and one of the problem itself help a lot. Straight from your phone camera is fine.

Straight answers

Questions worth asking.

How much is new computer setup?

Flat $99, which includes moving your files and programs from the old machine, removing manufacturer bloatware, and setting things up the way you actually use them.

What if my old computer will not turn on?

Bring it anyway. A dead machine almost always has a perfectly healthy drive inside, and your files can come off it whether or not the computer itself is worth fixing.

Do you need my passwords?

No. You type your own, every time, and I hand you the keyboard when an account needs signing into. I do not ask for them and I do not keep them.

Can you move my email and bookmarks too?

Yes, that is part of the $99. Documents, photos, browser favorites and saved passwords, and email all come across.

Can you wipe my old computer before I get rid of it?

Yes, just ask when you drop off. It is worth doing before any machine is sold, donated, or thrown out.
