Honest local computer help. I tell you the real problem and the real price before I start.
Virus & malware removal · Del City, Midwest City, Moore & Choctaw

Pop-ups everywhere? Let us get it actually gone.

Flat $99. The part most people skip is finding what keeps putting it back, the scheduled task or service the malware set up quietly. Removing the file is easy. Removing the thing that reinstalls the file is the actual job.

I do not just run a scanner and hand it back. If the persistence is still there, it returns in a week and you paid for nothing.

Does this sound familiar

Is this what yours is doing?

If one of these matches, you are in the right place. If none of them do, tell me anyway, because the list is not exhaustive.

Pop-ups and ads outside the browser

Ads appearing on the desktop or over other programs is a strong sign something is installed at the system level.

Your homepage or search changed itself

Browser hijack. Search goes somewhere you did not pick and changing it back does not stick.

Suddenly slow, fans always running

Something is using the machine. Sometimes it is mining crypto on your electricity.

Security software turned itself off

Malware disabling your protection is a serious sign and worth handling sooner rather than later.

What I actually do

The work, step by step.

Not a black box. This is the actual order of operations on the bench.

1

If it will not boot, I go around it

When Windows is locked or too infected to trust, I boot the machine from my own rescue environment instead, so the infected system never gets a vote.

2

Full scan plus a second opinion

One scanner misses things. I run a full scan and a second independent scanner, and I quarantine rather than blind-deleting, because deleting the wrong file breaks Windows.

3

Kill the persistence

This is the step that matters. Scheduled tasks, services, startup entries, and browser extensions the malware created to reinstall itself. If these stay, it comes back.

4

Clean the browser and lock it down

Hijacked settings reset, bad extensions removed, Windows and the browser updated, and basic protection set up so it stays clean.

Where the line is

The one I cannot promise.

If it is ransomware and your files are already encrypted, that is a different and much harder conversation, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. Modern ransomware encryption is not something I can undo. What I can do is tell you honestly what happened, clean the machine so it is safe to use again, and check whether any recoverable copies exist.

Anybody who promises to decrypt ransomware for a flat fee is either guessing or lying. I would rather lose the job than sell you that.

The price

Flat, and posted up front.

Virus and malware removal $99
Bench diagnostic, if the problem is unclear $49, credited
Tune-up, if it turns out to be junk and not malware $79
Warranty on the work 30 days

Flat $99 covers the removal, the persistence hunt, the browser cleanup, and getting protection back on. If I open it up and find the real problem is a dying drive rather than an infection, I stop and tell you that instead of charging you $99 to not fix it.

Who you are handing it to

One person, start to finish.

Dominic Stroder, who does the computer repair at Stroder Web Services in Del City, Oklahoma

I am Dominic. The person who answers your text is the person who opens your machine and the person who hands it back. There is no counter, no ticket number, and nobody to get passed along to.

That is also why the prices are flat and posted. One person with a bench does not need to build an hourly meter into the quote to cover a storefront.

Where I work

Del City and the east metro.

The bench is in Del City. I answer texts 9am to 9pm any day, and evenings and weekends is best for the actual hand-off. The price is the same whichever town you are coming from.

The more you tell me, the better I can help. I usually respond within one business day. Prefer to just call or text? (405) 458-0864.

Laptops: the sticker on the bottom. Desktops: the side or back of the tower. It tells me exactly what parts your machine takes.

A photo of that sticker and one of the problem itself help a lot. Straight from your phone camera is fine.

Straight answers

Questions worth asking.

How much does virus removal cost?

Flat $99. That covers the full removal, hunting down whatever was reinstalling it, cleaning the browser, and getting your protection working again. No hourly meter.

Will I lose my files?

That is not the goal and it is not usually the outcome. I quarantine rather than blind-delete for exactly this reason. If an infection has already damaged files, I will tell you before I do anything else.

How do I know if it is actually a virus or just slow?

Often you do not, and that is fine. Pop-ups outside the browser and a hijacked search are strong infection signs. General slowness is more often a worn out drive. I check first and tell you which one you have, and the honest answer changes the price in your favor sometimes.

Can you get my files back if it is ransomware?

Almost certainly not, and I will not take your money pretending I can. Modern ransomware encryption is not something I can reverse. I will tell you exactly what happened, make the machine safe to use, and check whether any recoverable copies exist.

How long does it take?

It depends on the infection and how big the drive is, so I do not quote turnaround times I cannot promise. I will give you a realistic read once I have looked at it.
